ABSTRACT

Biosorption is a simplistic and budgetary method and has been broadly examined for wastewater treatment. More recent studies on the biosorption of rare earth elements (REEs) from spent nuclear waste and electronic wastes are encouraging and need to be reviewed in the interest of readers. This review highlights the published work on the adsorption of REEs by biosorbents of diverse origins. Detailed studies on thermodynamics and kinetics along with adsorption-desorption mechanisms have beenmade. This review strives to provide worthy information on the advancements made so far for the biosorption of REEs.
