ABSTRACT
Strontium cerate phosphors doped with rare earths are synthesized through combustion and solid state reaction in different atmospheres. Phosphors prepared under inert atmosphere exhibited better photoluminescence properties. Phosphor prepared through combustion exhibited better luminescence intensity compared to solid-state route. The origin of cerium luminescence in this host is investigated and discussed. Effect of rare earths on luminescence of this phosphor is studied and reported. The abundance of Ce3+ and Ce4+ is estimated through spectroscopic measurement.
