ABSTRACT
|
Superhydrophobic (water contact angle ≈ 168o and sliding angle ≈1o) and ultra-wideband (entire visible to near infrared, i.e., 400–1100 nm), omnidirectional (0–60o) anti-reflecting (Tmax ≈98% and Tavg ≈97%) polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coatings are fabricated in a rapid single step deposition process by electron beam evaporation technique. The methodology followed in this work avoids conventional complicated multistep chemical processes and reduces the deposition time to ≈3 s. This novel coating strategy may be of potential use in fabricating highly transparent multifunctional optical coatings on glass cover panels with excellent self-cleaning property for various outdoor applications. |
