Localized transitions, which represent sub-conduction recombination, have been investigated comprehensively using localized recombination model (LRM) of thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL). The study reveals the following results: (i) The conventional quasi-equilibrium (QE) approximation criteria do not hold in LRM and new criteria for QE approximation is proposed. (ii) The glow peak temperature “Tm” is always independent of the radiation dose. In addition to above, the influence of limited (semi-localized) as well as complete delocalization of charge carriers on TSL glow curves arising from localized transitions has also been investigated. It has been found that in the presence of delocalized transitions, the TSL glow curves arising from localized transitions exhibit dose dependence implying that the glow peak temperature “Tm” is a function of the radiation dose and non first order kinetics can exist. |
