  Measurement of photofission cross-section in 232Th using microtron facility

ABSTRACT

Photofission cross-section measurements of 232Th has been carried out in the energy range 7.4 MeV to 9.2 MeV in steps of 0.3 MeV using variable energy bremsstrahlung radiation obtained from Microtron at Mangalore University. Photofission cross-section has been evaluated from the measured fission fragment angular distribution by using photon difference method. The present experimental measurements were compared with the results obtained from the theoretical predications of EMPIRE-II code for various potential parameters and analytical fission barrier formula. The results obtained from the present measurements are in good agreement with the analytical fission barrier formula.
