ABSTRACT

A charged particle detector array consisting of 50 Si–CsI detector telescopes for study of heavy-ion reactions is under construction in BARC-TIFR Pelletron-LINAC facility. Single-sided segmented siliconpad detectors  of 300 µm thickness and 400mm2 total active area have been fabricated for this purpose and their design parameters along with static and dynamic characteristics are presented. A low-cost solution for implementing the pulse-shape-based particle discrimination technique with the siliconpad detectors has been demonstrated through in-beam measurements and the results obtained are presented.
