ABSTRACT

Ga substituted polycrystalline YMn1-xGaxO3 samples (x = 0.0, 0.03 and 0.06) were prepared following solid state reaction route. Phase purity was confirmed by Rietveld refinement of x-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns. XPS measurements on un-substituted YMnO3 show the presence of mixed valence state of Mn, namely, Mn2+ and Mn4+, supported by magnetization measurements. It is observed that Mn ions stabilize in Mn3+ valence state upon Ga substitution. |
